This project aims to provide FREE wellbeing support for 200 young adults (16-24) over the course of 2020. "Self care + Resilience = Growth"

What is the project? 

This project aims to provide FREE wellbeing support for 200 young adults (16-24) over the course of 2020.  This will be done through the delivery of unique personal development workshops and one to one consultations. 

Why is it important? 

A couple of mental health statistics relating to young adults :

  • Half of mental health problems begin before the age of 14, and three quarters by the age of 24. (www.mentalhealth.org.uk)
  • New statistics published 3 Dec 2019 show that 1,619 children and young people were rejected from Child and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in the last quarter.  Additionally, only 64.5% children and young people were seen by CAMHS within the 18-week target
  • Emotional disorders, particularly anxiety and depression, are on the rise. We are just beginning to understand how the increasing prevalence of social media is negatively impacting young people’s emotional health.
  • Demand is RISING and government funding is INSUFFICIENT therefore public services do not have the capacity to help all those in need of support.

This is becoming a HUGE problem and needs IMMEDIATE action.

These mental ill health challenges will result in serious lifelong impacts for the majority of these individuals if they are left unsupported during these transitional years.

Just take a moment to stop and think of the reality of this.

  • How many young adults are literally falling through the gaps in terms of support?
  • What this does to their levels of confidence & resilience? 
  • How can we possibly expect them to be prepared for the world of work?

What is my vision? 

To help, support & inspire individuals to recognise the importance of self-care from an emotional wellbeing & mental wellness perspective. 

To provide positive, fun, interactive workshops and one to one consultations sharing  practical tips and tools to takeaway that can be used for life to build resilience and empower personal growth.     

Who am I? 

I am Alvina, a wife, mum to two teenagers and a social entrepreneur. I am a self-care and wellbeing mentor and coach. 

This year I launched a product called 'mytime4mebox' - a unique and mindfully prepared gift box, promoting positive sentiments of kindness, self care and wellbeing. (www.mytime4mebox.co.uk)

I also developed a person centred, module based wellbeing training and development programme called The S.P.R.I.N.G Solution. This is the framework I use to deliver wellbeing workshops and one to one consultations. (www.thespringsolution.co.uk)

Why me?

Until last year, my career was within financial services and in leadership roles spanning 24 years - more than half my life! The development programme is the consolidation of my knowledge and experience gained through supporting, managing & leading many individuals and teams to success.  It also integrates new holistic self care and wellbeing techniques which I have studied and practiced over the last year which compliment my mentoring services and coaching 'toolkit'.

I can relate! My personal story is one of self care, resilience and growth. I have experienced a series of significant life events over the last 4 years and even took a short career break in November 2018 for my own and my family’s mental health and wellbeing. This time out allowed me to slow down and reflect on my core values, transferrable skills and follow my heart to create ways to do what I love most - helping others and sharing my knowledge. 

Where will your money go? 

I will use 100% of funds raised via this Crowdfunder project to deliver these workshops and one to one consultations. 

I have used my expertise to design the programme that will help young adults thrive and get the support they need NOW

There is no time to waste, no waiting list for them to join and no financial barriers to their wellbeing and personal growth. 

Pledging your support means the work can start - I can approach and collaborate with local charities, schools, colleges and universities to offer to deliver these workshops and one to one consultations as soon as possible.

I will work closely with wellbeing and guidance teams and co-ordinators to ensure individuals selected are most in need of immediate support.  

Your support will mean that there won't be unnecessary delays by having to go through boards, budget challenges and approvals to secure funding on what are already tight budgets. 

What's included in a workshop? 

  • Each workshop will last approx. 2 hours. 
  • Each workshop will be limited to 20 attendees to ensure the best person-centred experience.
  • All activities are based around the themes of Mindfulness, Mental Health, Motivation, Mindset, Morale and Mentoring. *
  • The workshop will be upbeat, positive, fun, interactive and activity/communication based - there will be NO POWERPOINT slides!
  • I will personally deliver the group training and can be available to work with individuals in follow up one to one or drop-in style sessions on request, at a discounted fee (payable by the charity, school, college or university).

How will the young adults benefit from the workshops or one to one consultations?

  • They will receive invaluable insight, inspiration, guidance and practical tips and tools for life to help themselves and others navigate adulthood and the challenges and responsibilities that it brings. 
  • TO TAKE AWAY - Reference materials AND a SURPRISE gift for each individual to encourage their continued focus on health, wellbeing and personal development.

*All training is adaptable to the needs of each young adult group and is based on the personal development training programme as described above.

This secures a workshop space for 10 young adults. 

It also provides a 'lunch and learn' style talk/activity for a small group. I will share with the audience my personal journey of self-care, resilience and growth through adverse circumstances. I aim to inspire individuals to slow down, become more self aware, compassionate, less stressed and  become more positive, creative, productive and motivated to nurture their own wellbeing. 

These sessions would last approx 1-1.5 hours and includes a 'self-care' interactive activity. Suitable for max 10 attendees. (UK only) (Travel costs may be chargeable depending upon location.) 

I can also be available to work with individuals/small groups in follow up one to one or drop-in style sessions on request.
