Elaine Hunter and Jill Guthrie
Elaine, 53, a mum to four, a journalist, PR and editor, first learned about the forest nursery model from having German au pairs over many years. Elaine runs her own businesses, websites and runs a social enterprise launched in the Scottish Parliament in January, 2020.
Jill, 43, mum to three, has experience in the childcare sector and school catering industry; with extensive behaviour experience. Jill project-managed a parent and nappy initiative with Perth And Kinross Council, owns her own equine sanctuary and works for the council in terms of school catering.
As mums (with seven children between us) we have experience of children, childcare and have great organisation skills. Plus we understand parents and know their needs.
We will be bringing in experts in childcare to handle the day-to-day running of the nursery - but will be on hand to help; as we are both undertaking training in this area. We want the nursery to have a home-from-home feel to it; a nursery run by women focussing on nurturing and learning.
We want to offer half the day outside for children - exploring the forest in Perthshire and outdoor learning, and half the day inside - offering mindfulness and yoga; and learning indoor skills as well as some early learning education.
We offer an eight hour day - but will be open for 12 hours to allow parents flexibility. There will be provision for parents to have more than an eight-hour day; and we will offer to feed children throughout the day.
We are also offering a Saturday morning availability.
This is the only available nursery ins 20 mile radius - both closer nurseries are at capacity and don't offer outdoor/indoor or our 12-hour day and Saturday morning provision.
