Hello! We are Martin and Rachel, and we came up with the idea to create Snack Garden. A vegan food outlet which provides healthy, fast and freshly prepared food for on-the-go consumption.
We decided to start the business due to our personal struggle to find healthy vegan food, and especially gluten free vegan food, for breakfast, lunch or just to grab a quick bite on the go. The food choices that we found were either unhealthy, expensive or had to be modified in some way to make it gluten free or vegan. We are going to be based in the Westend of Glasgow to begin with but have further ambitions of having multiple locations and having Snack Garden's up and down the country.
About Snack Garden
Snack Garden is a vegan food outlet which provides healthy, fast and freshly prepared food for on-the-go consumption. The products that we will be producing will include a range of freshly prepared juices, smoothies, smoothie bowls and juice shots, along with healthy snacks, a salad bar, sandwiches and hot drinks which will provide choices suitable to those who are vegan and gluten free. We aim to stock as many gluten free items as we can, however not everything will be gluten free.
Our customers will also have the option to add additions into their smoothies or smoothie bowls. This will be in the form of superfood and protein powders for an additional price on top of the price of the product. Our salad bar will be prepared first thing every morning, offering a selection of different salad options, depending on the season.
We aim to prepare the majority of our food products on our own premises, as well as outsourcing some produced food products which fall into our vegan image. The kind of products we wish to outsource at the beginning of our business venture are sandwiches, wraps and a selection of snack products such as crisps, raw vegan and gluten free cakes and snack bars along with a wide variety of waters, juices, teas and coffees.
Our first premises is going to be based in the Westend of Glasgow. Our plan is to start off with a small venue and as our business and profit grows we aim to purchase larger premises with in house seating.
We also hope to stock a range of products such as superfoods and protein powders for our customers to purchase. We are also exploring the hemp and CBD oil market. We aim to use recyclable and compostable packaging where possible.
Pricing is very important to us and we understand that a lot of vegan and gluten free food can be more expensive. This is something that we want to move away from. We want to make vegan and gluten free food available to everyone, that is why one of our aims is to keep our prices low.
When it comes to our goals for Snack Garden we have no limit. Our goal is to become a well known brand up and down the country, having Snack Garden’s in all major cities, towns, airports and train stations reaching and supplying delicious good food to as many people as we can. We want to become the first vegan cafe establishment, nationwide, to become a successful brand within the UK. One day, to be international.
In our first year of business we hope to have at least two Snack Garden premises up and running within Glasgow. From there, we want to continue building our brand and looking out for possible premises in which we can purchase to continue growing, such as Edinburgh and further afield. In our first few years of business we aim to have several Snack Garden cafes open up and down the country. It is our goal to become a well known national and international brand. We also wish to continue growing our menu, and offering a varied and wide selection of food products that our customers want to purchase, taking their feedback on board and growing the business from there. Money generated within the company will be reinvested back into the business. It will be used for a variety of causes such as purchasing more premises. As our business grows, we aim to grow our team, by hiring creative individuals who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in creating food products so that we can continually push ourselves to create food items that will make us stand out from our competitors. One of our main aims is to be recognised as a leader in the vegan food market.
